Citing military authorities, the UKMTO stated in a release that the tanker was struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) while exiting the Strait of Hormuz in waters near the port town of Khasab.
“The vessel sustained minor damage, but the crew are reported safe and uninjured. No environmental damage has been reported,” the UKMTO statement read.
The maritime agency advised other vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity immediately.
